We know miscarriage can be painful and traumatic. Do not blame yourself for a miscarriage. Many things could go wrong in a pregnancy that led to a miscarriage. But it is rarely caused by anything the mother did, or did not do, like drank a glass of wine, ate a particular food, had sex or did not rest enough etc. The early loss of a pregnancy is common, it occurs in 10% of known pregnancies, of which 50% is because the fetus did not develop correctly due to chromosome issues. In the majority of cases, the next pregnancy proceeds to full term.
Miscarriage can lead to heavy bleeding, body weakness and fatigue, low immune, and some postpartum effects due to hormonal changes. Miscarriage can be also be very emotionally overwhelming – from feeling shock and sadness to irrational guilt and anxiety about future pregnancies. Thus. recovery after miscarriage is equally if not more important than after a full-term delivery.
This is why it very important to do the right things to help you recover physically and emotionally quickly.
1. Rest for at least 2-4 weeks
2. Eat balanced meal and nutrients-densed food that support your physical and mental recovery
3. Consult with your gynaecologist and take medications as prescribed
4. Avoid sexual intercourse
5.Get help from other women who have been through the same thing if needed
Everyone is different and so it is the time needed for recovery. Your physical recovery may vary depending on how much bleeding you had, or how long the pregnancy was. The emotional healing process after a miscarriage may sometime takes much longer than the physical healing.
